Leslie Eckel is an internationally recognized healthcare and social services consultant, educator, and published author.  With over 35 years of experience, she has a strong background in coaching, training, and strategic development. Leslie spent over a decade as a Knowledge Exchange Associate at the University of Waterloo, and is currently a Professor of Health Care Administration and Management, where she designs and delivers essential leadership education to the health and social service leaders of tomorrow. Leslie creates engaging and interactive sessions tailored to meet the unique needs of each audience. Her engaging style fosters open dialogue and equips participants with actionable tools to navigate challenges, foster growth, and inspire success in leadership roles.

Sandy van Solm, PhD (She/Her)

Partner

 

Dr. Sandy van Solm is a Deputy Fire Chief and has a PhD from the School of Public Health and Health Systems at the University of Waterloo. With over 20 years’ experience in Public Safety she is very interested in improving the emergency response for vulnerable populations during emergencies and disasters. She is most passionate about leveraging the rapid technological advancements in the recent decades which enable the repurposing of standardized health information for improved emergency response.

She was the Emergency Management Manager for the Region of Waterloo where she took a leadership role in the response to COVID-19 and other emergencies. Prior to that  position Dr. van Solm worked as the Emergency Manager for the largest airport in Canada, Toronto Pearson International Airport.

 

Before moving to Canada in 2009, she was a Platoon Chief for the Amsterdam Fire Department and Senior Manager of Emergency Planning for the Amsterdam Region. Sandy has authored several publications including co-authoring a book as well as a chapter on diversity in the Fire Department.
